After Shaina, Congress MLA Varsha Gaikwad gets lewd messages
Congress leader Varsha Gaikwad became the third political women who received lewd messages on her phone. She filed a case against unidentified persons with Mumbai police.
Mumbai, March 7: Congress MLA Varsha Gaikwad on Tuesday registered a case against unknown persons after receiving lewd messages on her phone . "With so many political women receiving these lewd messages, I am noticing a rise in such cases. It has become a trend to target women who have entered the male-dominated arena. When women like us are targetted then I can imagine the situation of a common women exposed to these types of harassments", she said. Varsha, who is a lawmaker from the Dharavi constituency, added that she will raise the issue in the house as well. Varsha is the third women in two weeks believed to have received obscene messages on phone.

Last week, Shiv Sena leader Neelam Gorhe had filed a case with Mumbai and Pune police against unknown persons who had repeatedly sent her messages, threatening her of rape and murder.

A few days later, Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Shaina NC registered a complaint with Mumbai police after she received indecent messages. On Sunday, the Mumbai police cracked the case and identified the accused as Jayantkumar Singh, a BJP activist from Varanasi.
