Gurugram Water Supply Cut: GMDA Announces Water Supply Shutdown For 30 Hours: Check List Of Affected Areas

Gurugram Water Cut: The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has announced a 30-hour water supply disruption across nearly half the city, starting from 11:00 am on Monday, April 7. The areas affected are those receiving water from the Chandu Budhera Water Treatment Plant.

According to GMDA officials, the shutdown is necessary to facilitate the connection of a new 100 MLD (million litres per day) unit-part of the plant's fourth phase-to the existing water supply pipeline. The supply is expected to resume by 5:00 pm on Tuesday, April 8.

Areas Affected by the Shutdown

Residents in the following areas will experience a complete halt in water supply during this period:

Sector 4, 5, 7, 9, 11, and 12

Sectors 81 to 115

Dayanand Colony, Old Gurugram, Laxman Vihar

Choti Mata Boosting Station

Village Chandu and Dhankot

Sector 10, 33, 37D, and 38

Boosting Station Sector 51 (covering Sector 42 to 74 and Village Badshahpur)

City to Gain 100 MLD of Additional Water Supply

Once the new unit is fully operational, the Chandu Budhera plant's capacity will rise from 300 MLD to 400 MLD. This expansion is expected to provide significant relief to the city, especially during the peak summer months when water demand typically outstrips supply.

Currently, Gurugram's two main water treatment plants-Chandu Budhera and Basai-have a combined capacity of 570 MLD. However, from April to June, water demand rises sharply, often crossing 600 MLD. To bridge the shortfall, GMDA also relies on borewells.

Authorities have urged residents in the affected areas to store water in advance and use it judiciously during the shutdown period.
