Renowned film director S. Narayan, along with his wife Bhagyalakshmi, and son Pavan, face an FIR at Jnanabharati Police Station following a dowry harassment complaint filed by Pavitra, Pavan's wife, alleging demands for extra money, physical assault, and being forced out of the house after their 2021 marriage.

The complaint was registered at the Jnanabharati Police Station by Pavitra, the wife of S. Narayan's second son. According to the complaint, an FIR has been filed against S. Narayan, his wife Bhagyalakshmi, and her husband Pavan. Although dowry was provided at the time of marriage, they allegedly demanded additional money. It is claimed that they physically assaulted her and harassed her over dowry.

Details from the complaint,''I married Pavan, S. Narayan's son, in 2021. Since Pavan was uneducated, he did not have a job and stayed at home. As a result, I was the one working and managing the household. Later, Pavan wanted to start a film institute called Kala Samrat Team Academy and asked me for money. At that time, my mother gave the funds. However, the institute had to be shut down later due to losses.

At the time of the wedding, we provided a ring worth ₹1 lakh and covered the wedding expenses. Even after giving the dowry, they allegedly assaulted me and demanded more money. Due to these conflicts, they forced me out of the house. This has caused distress for me and my son, and I am requesting action against them, stating that if anything happens, they will be responsible."

Sandalwood director S. Narayan reacts to FIR over dowry harassment

Speaking to News18, Narayan strongly denied the charges and questioned the timing of the complaint.

"Society knows who S. Narayan is. I myself condemn harassment - so why would I engage in it? It has been 14 months since she left home. If she was truly thrown out, shouldn't the complaint have been filed that very day? What was she doing all this time?" Narayan asked.

The director also challenged the financial claims made against him. "Give me proof of the ten lakhs worth of gifts she says were given. I have records of the loans I took to run that academy and how I repaid them. I will present all of this in court," he said.

Narayan added: "These accusations against me are baseless. I will fight them legally."
