Speeding Car Hits Metro Pillar in Pune; Two Killed, One Seriously Hurt

In a tragic incident early Sunday morning, two young men were killed and another critically injured after a speeding car rammed into a metro pillar near Bund Garden Metro Station in Pune. The crash occurred around 5 a.m., leaving the vehicle completely mangled from the impact.

According to officials from the Koregaon Park police station, the deceased have been identified as Hrithik Bhandare and Yash Bhandare. The third occupant, who sustained serious injuries, was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police Suspect Drunk Driving

Preliminary investigation indicates that the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol, as liquor bottles were recovered from inside the car. Senior Police Inspector Sangita Jadhav said, "At around 4:30 a.m., a car hit a pillar of the Bund Garden Metro Station. As per initial information, two persons in the car died, while a third person suffered serious injuries."

She added that efforts are underway to determine the exact cause of the accident. "We are verifying how the incident took place and gathering evidence to confirm whether overspeeding or drunk driving was involved," the officer said.

Police have registered a case and launched a detailed investigation into the matter. The wreckage has been cleared from the site to ensure smooth traffic movement in the area.
