Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta lauded the Union Budget, calling it people-centric and development-driven, and mentioned Delhi's allocation of Rs 1,348 crore, along with increased funds for various sectors, including health, education, and trade.

Addressing a press conference at the Delhi Secretariat a day after the budget presentation, she thanked Narendra Modi and Nirmala Sitharaman for what she described as a people-centric and development-driven financial roadmap.

Budget Reflects Visionary Leadership

Rekha Gupta said the budget mirrors the strong and far-sighted leadership of Prime Minister Modi and strengthens the resolve of building a developed and self-reliant India. She said, "The budget gives confidence to every section of society and provides support to all. Maintaining the country's economic stability, fulfilling people's aspirations, and the spirit of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' are clearly visible in this budget. We are working with the Centre to implement Delhi's schemes and are also bringing budgetary support from the Centre."

Focus on Women, Youth and Next-Generation Growth

Highlighting social sector priorities, the Chief Minister said the budget places special emphasis on women and girls, particularly through the proposal to construct hostels for girls in every district. "We consider this budget completely in the interest of Delhi. Special attention has been given to women and girls. The proposal to build hostels for girls in every district is a commendable step. Calling this a next-generation budget would not be wrong. There is also a strong focus on youth," she said.

Delhi Receives Rs 1,348 Crore Allocation

Sharing details of allocations, Rekha Gupta said Delhi has received Rs 1,348 crore in the budget. She added that a combined allocation of Rs 15,000 crore has been set aside for Delhi, Puducherry, and Jammu and Kashmir, compared to Rs 6,000 crore earlier. "We will try to ensure that Delhi gets the maximum possible share. I also thank Amit Shah for increasing the budget of Delhi Police," she said.

Higher Funds for Health, Education, Environment and Trade

The Chief Minister noted that allocations under central schemes have increased to Rs 13,000 crore this year, benefiting Delhi significantly. Under Central Sector Schemes, 49 central programmes are currently operational in Delhi, and the city will receive its full share from the Rs 232 crore allocated to three states.

She added that budgets for central hospitals, including AIIMS, have been enhanced, while education and environment sectors will see substantial gains. Increased allocations for sports are expected to benefit youth, while green energy initiatives, concessions on battery manufacturing machinery, and incentives for electric vehicles will support sustainable growth. The Rs 10,000 crore allocation for small traders, she said, will also help Delhi's business community.
