Mangalore Lit Fest 2025: Author S.L. Bhyrappa To Inaugurate Two-Day Literary Extravaganza On January 11
The Mangalore Lit Fest 2025 is scheduled for January 11 and 12 in Mangalore. Esteemed writer Dr. S.L. Bhyrappa will inaugurate this seventh edition, which aims to connect youth with literature through diverse programs over two days in two halls. The festival begins with Udayaraga by Srijith Saralaya at 9:30 am on January 11, followed by the official inauguration at 10 am. Participants can register online at mlrlitfest.org.
Day One Highlights

On the first day, discussions will explore themes like "Energy for Survival – Security and Climate" featuring Hardeep Singh Puri and "Art and Craft of Building and Dismantling Narratives" with Vikram Sood. Other sessions include "Sanskrityanam" with Samasthi Gubbi, Dr. H.R. Vishwas, and Dr. Shankar Rajaraman, as well as "Economic Challenge, Universal Welfare" by Sanjeev Sanyal.
In another hall, topics such as "Kannada Literary Criticism and the Memory of the Century" with Dr. G.S. Amura will be discussed. Sessions on "Journalism and Literature" with Jogi and Ravi Hegde, along with a cinematic discussion titled "Sight and Insight" by Dr. Mallappa Bhandi and D. Aishwarya are also planned.
Additional Programs
The festival also features Karkala Chilipili by Vandana Rai, discussions on Tulu literature, Indian diaspora stories, folk tales, and story readings by Gopalakrishna Kunthini, Smita Raghavendra, and Sachin Thirthahalli on the first day.
Day Two Events
The second day includes award presentations and book releases such as "Tipu Sultan - The Saga of Mysore Intergenom 1760-1799." Discussions on cinema technology with Gopalakrishna Pai and Girish Kasaravalli are scheduled alongside talks like "From Individual to Indivisible" by Swami Mahamedhananda and Satyesh Bellur.
In the second hall on the same day, topics like Nagrota siege, Women, Gender and Society will be addressed by speakers including Dr. Clyde Arjapi and Dilip Sinha. Additionally, a youth poetry gathering will feature contributions from Bhawna Arora and Megha Girish among others.
Closing Ceremony
The festival concludes with a ceremony featuring Shatavadhani Dr. R. Ganesh and Dr. Ajakkala Girish Bhat. A special conversation with Dr. S.L. Bhairappa is planned along with a quiz program finale to wrap up the eventful two days.
