Yogi Cabinet Approves 37 Proposals, Major Push For Farmers, Jobs, Power Supply And City Infrastructure

The Uttar Pradesh cabinet approved 37 proposals covering wheat MSP hikes, major infrastructure, energy projects, and urban renewal via Navyug Palika Yojana, with investments in Gorakhpur, Lucknow and 58 district municipalities to boost growth and services.

Uttar Pradesh cabinet led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath cleared 37 proposals on 23 March 2026. Key approvals include a higher wheat minimum support price, major infrastructure in Gorakhpur and Lucknow, a flyover at Dubagga, new business park rules, support for a coal block, and an urban renewal scheme for district municipalities.

The cabinet meeting on Monday focused on farmers, industry, urban services and power supply. Finance Minister Suresh Khanna briefed that wheat minimum support price for 2026 will rise by Rs 160 per quintal. Several long-term projects were also passed to support growth and employment in different regions of the state.

Infrastructure projects from Yogi cabinet meeting Uttar Pradesh

One major decision is a floating solar plant in Gorakhpur, planned on 80 acres of water surface. Coal India Limited will develop this project. Officials expect the plant to support plans to turn Gorakhpur into a “solar city” by adding clean power capacity and reducing pressure on conventional power sources.

Lucknow will get a large convention centre in the Vrindavan Yojana area, also cleared in the Yogi cabinet meeting Uttar Pradesh. The centre will accommodate 10,000 people. The sanctioned cost is Rs 1,435.25 crore. The complex will include an auditorium and a hotel, aiming to host conferences, exhibitions and large cultural events.

Traffic relief is planned on the Lucknow–Hardoi route, where a flyover at Dubagga has received approval. The flyover will cost Rs 305.31 crore and measure 1,811.72 metres in length. Authorities expect reduced congestion on this busy corridor and smoother daily movement for commuters and freight vehicles.

Business parks and logistics from Yogi cabinet meeting Uttar Pradesh

The cabinet cleared the Private Business Park Vikas Yojana to encourage industrial activity. Under this scheme, the government aims to support new business parks in different districts. The stated objective is to promote industrial development and generate additional employment opportunities for local residents in both manufacturing and service sectors.

Government land will be given to private investors for business parks, with payment collected in instalments over 45 years. Investors must develop the parks with required infrastructure. Under the Uttar Pradesh Multimodal Logistic Park Policy, a multimodal logistics park will be set up at Budhaki in Greater Noida, with logistics warehouses planned and a tender expected within three months.

Energy decisions in Yogi cabinet meeting Uttar Pradesh

The meeting also reviewed progress at the Ghatampur power project near Kanpur, which consists of three units of 660 megawatt each. Two units are already operational and the third unit is expected to start soon. To secure fuel, the state has a coal block in Jharkhand, for which the cabinet sanctioned Rs 2,242.90 crore to start operations.

Coal from this Jharkhand block will supply the Ghatampur power plant. Officials estimate reserves of 270 million tonnes. Presently, power from Ghatampur costs Rs 3.71 per unit. After coal starts coming from the allocated block, the cost is expected to fall by about Re 1 per unit, easing pressure on the power budget.

Urban renewal under Yogi cabinet meeting Uttar Pradesh

The cabinet also gave formal approval to the budget-announced 'Navyug Palika Yojana’. This programme targets district-level municipalities, with the stated aim of making them smarter and more modern. The plan focuses on strengthening basic services and updating civic amenities in fast-growing towns that are not covered by municipal corporations.

Uttar Pradesh has 75 districts and 17 municipal corporations, which are excluded from this scheme. The 'Navyug Palika Yojana’ will therefore cover the remaining 58 district headquarters municipalities. It has a budget provision of Rs 145 crore and will run for five years, funding modern infrastructure and better urban facilities.

The 37 decisions from the latest Yogi cabinet meeting collectively address farmers’ incomes, electricity costs, urban infrastructure, traffic management and industrial space. With projects spread across Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Kanpur region, Greater Noida and 58 district municipalities, the government has set out a multi-sector plan built around long-term investment.
