UP Government to Recruit 1,200 Faculty Posts in Medical Colleges in 2026

The Uttar Pradesh government plans a major hiring drive in government medical colleges in 2026, aiming to fill teaching and technical posts. Around 1,200 vacancies for assistant professors, professors and pharmacy lecturers will be filled, which officials say will strengthen medical education and expand job opportunities for youth in the state.

Alongside faculty recruitment, the Yogi government is preparing to issue appointment letters to 1,230 nursing officers selected through the Public Service Commission, Prayagraj. These nursing officers, both women and men, will be deployed in government hospitals and medical colleges, helping improve patient care and support services across Uttar Pradesh.

Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Amit Kumar Ghosh said Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath instructed officials to fill vacant posts quickly. The focus is on creating maximum employment for state youth while ensuring that new and existing medical colleges have adequate teaching staff and trained personnel for smooth operations.

Amit Kumar Ghosh stated that requisitions for assistant professor, professor and lecturer (pharmacy) posts have already been sent to the Public Service Commission, Prayagraj. Advertisements for these vacancies will be published soon. The recruitment plan includes 1,112 assistant professor posts, 44 professor posts and 11 lecturer (pharmacy) posts across government medical colleges.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed that medical education in Uttar Pradesh should not focus only on degrees.
