Ganga Expressway to Be Ready by February 2026, Says Yogi Adityanath Govt

Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary SP Goyal has told departments to meet project deadlines strictly, warning that delays could hurt investment and jobs. Goyal said major infrastructure schemes, including the Ganga Expressway and industrial corridors, must stay on schedule and maintain construction quality.

The instructions came during a Project Monitoring Group review held on Thursday. Senior officials presented progress on several flagship projects, while SP Goyal focused on how these schemes could support industrial growth and employment generation across different regions of the state.

Ganga Expressway progress and industrial corridor linkages

Reiterating the importance of timely delivery, SP Goyal asked officials to complete the Ganga Expressway by 15 February, 2026. The Chief Secretary also demanded faster land acquisition for the UP Defence Industrial Corridor and for projects linked to the Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority, known as BUDA.

During the meeting, SP Goyal reviewed the status of the Defence Industrial Corridor, BUDA, the Medical Device Park in Gautam Buddha Nagar and the Pharma Park in Lalitpur, alongside the Ganga Expressway. Officials were told that close coordination between departments is necessary so that investors do not face procedural hurdles.

Planning targets for BUDA and Ganga Expressway ecosystem

Special focus was placed on BUDA’s long-term planning. SP Goyal asked that zonal and sector plans for BUDA’s Master Plan-2045 be finished by 31 March, 2026. Departments were told that such planning would support projects connected with the Ganga Expressway and other regional corridors.

Goyal directed that work orders for water and power infrastructure in BUDA’s activation area be issued within the current month. The Chief Secretary further said construction of a 60-metre-wide main road inside BUDA should start immediately, so that upcoming industries gain early site access.

At the Pharma Park in Lalitpur, SP Goyal stressed that construction standards must not slip while chasing deadlines. Officials were told to stay in regular contact with investors who already hold land there and in other schemes, so that any bottlenecks are identified early.

Departments were asked to meet investors, understand construction schedules and note expected dates for commercial operations. SP Goyal said such monitoring would help bring units into production quickly. Goyal also cautioned that land should be allotted only where availability is fully verified, to avoid disputes and future delays.

Concluding the review, SP Goyal repeated that careful planning, clear coordination and constant tracking are vital for the Ganga Expressway and linked projects. The Chief Secretary said these large schemes must translate into visible economic gains, including higher investment, stronger industrial activity and more employment opportunities across Uttar Pradesh.
