Fresh questions have resurfaced over the death of financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein after a forensic pathologist reiterated doubts about the official ruling.

Epstein was found dead in his New York jail cell in 2019, with authorities concluding it was a suicide by hanging, but alternative claims continue to circulate.

Doctor Raises Doubts Over Cause Of Death

Dr Michael Baden, a forensic pathologist who observed Epstein's post-mortem on behalf of his family, has once again challenged the official conclusion. In a recent interview, Baden said he believes the death was more likely caused by strangulation pressure rather than hanging.

He maintained that, based on the available evidence and injury patterns, the cause of death warrants further investigation. Baden had earlier described his findings as inconclusive and has consistently called for additional scrutiny into the case.

Official Ruling Remains Suicide

Epstein died in August 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. The New York Medical Examiner's Office ruled his death a suicide by hanging, a conclusion that has been upheld by officials since then.

Although Baden attended the autopsy as an observer and did not conduct it, he has said more information was needed at the time to determine the exact cause and manner of death.

The autopsy report noted multiple fractures in Epstein's neck, including damage to the hyoid bone and thyroid cartilage. Baden has said such injuries are uncommon in typical suicide hangings and raised concerns about their significance.

Epstein's legal team had also expressed dissatisfaction with the official findings at the time, further adding to ongoing debate and speculation.

Security Lapses At Jail Under Scrutiny

Reports in recent years have highlighted several security failures at the Metropolitan Correctional Center where Epstein was held. Investigations pointed to lapses such as missed cell checks, excess materials inside the cell and falsified records by guards on duty.

On the night before Epstein was found dead, his cellmate had been transferred and no replacement was assigned. Routine monitoring procedures were also reportedly not followed, raising further questions about the circumstances surrounding his death.

Despite continued speculation and renewed claims, authorities have not changed the official ruling on Epstein's death.
