Tejasvi Surya Engages with US Ambassador Sergio Gor on Trade and Technology in Bengaluru

BJP MP Tejasvi Surya met US Ambassador Sergio Gor in Bengaluru to discuss the growing India-US partnership in trade and technology following a recent interim trade agreement.

BJP MP Tejasvi Surya recently met with US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, in Bengaluru. They discussed the growing partnership between India and the US in areas like trade, technology, and innovation. This meeting followed a recent interim trade agreement between the two nations, with Surya emphasizing Bengaluru's key role in enhancing bilateral economic relations.

Surya expressed his pleasure at hosting Ambassador Gor in Bengaluru through a post on X. He shared that their interaction occurred over breakfast at a well-known eatery in Indiranagar. "Over some masala dosa & strong coffee at Filter Coffee, Indiranagar, we had an engaging conversation on the growing India US partnership, especially in trade, technology and innovation following the interim trade agreement," he said.

Expanding Economic Ties

The MP highlighted Bengaluru's significance in the India-US economic relationship. He mentioned that the city hosts over 700 American companies and contributes 43% of India's software exports. This underscores Bengaluru's importance in fostering economic ties between the two countries.

Surya also introduced Ambassador Gor to local culture by taking him on a ride in an auto rickshaw, which he described as a memorable experience. "Also introduced him to Namma Auto. A memorable ride indeed," he noted.

Bengaluru's Role in Innovation

Surya described Bengaluru as a city that blends tradition with modern innovation. He stated, "Bengaluru truly represents the journey from masala dosa to machine learning." This highlights how the city is pivotal in strengthening both economic and cultural connections between India and the US.

He further elaborated on Bengaluru's contribution to innovation-led partnerships. The city is home to 40% of India's Global Capability Centres (GCCs), driving collaboration between the two democracies.

The meeting underscored the importance of Bengaluru as a hub for technological advancement and economic growth. It plays a crucial role in enhancing ties between India and the US, reflecting its unique blend of tradition and cutting-edge innovation.
