Banglar Yuva Sathi Scheme 2026: Mamata Govt Announces Rs 1,500 Allowance; Check Eligibility & Apply

The West Bengal government has unveiled a new financial assistance initiative, the 'Banglar Yuva Sathi' scheme, aimed at supporting young residents until they secure employment.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee confirmed that the scheme will officially roll out on April 1, after being advanced from its earlier August timeline. Applications are set to begin on February 15, offering eligible beneficiaries a steady monthly allowance.

Who Can Apply For Banglar Yuva Sathi?

Introduced in the interim Budget 2026, the scheme is designed to provide monetary support to individuals between the ages of 21 and 40 who have completed their secondary education but are yet to find a job. Applicants must be permanent residents of West Bengal to qualify for the benefit.

However, the government has clarified that individuals already receiving assistance under other state welfare programmes will not be eligible. Scholarships such as Aikyasree, Medhasree, smart card schemes like Sikhasree, and the Swami Vivekananda merit-cum-scholarship are exceptions and will not disqualify candidates from applying.

Application Dates And Process

The state administration will organise application camps across every assembly constituency from February 15 to February 26. Interested candidates can visit these camps to collect and submit their forms within the specified window.

For added convenience, sample application forms will also be available online at the official website, allowing applicants to review the format before submission.

Documents Needed For Submission

Applicants must provide photocopies of essential documents during the application process. These include a bank passbook, valid identity proof, Class 10 certificates, and a recent passport-sized photograph, among other required papers.

With the launch of Banglar Yuva Sathi, the Mamata Banerjee government aims to ease financial pressure on unemployed youth while they continue their search for stable employment. The initiative is expected to benefit a large section of young people across the state by offering interim economic support.
