The Congress party in Telangana has backed a state-wide bandh organised by the Telangana Backward Class Joint Action Committee (BC JAC) on October 18. This protest is against the High Court's decision to halt 42% reservation for BCs in local body elections. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has called on the public to join the protest, describing it as a demonstration "against the BJP." He urged Union Ministers G Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay, along with State BJP President R Ramachander Rao, to address the issue with both the Prime Minister and President to gain approval for the BC Bill.

Most educational institutions are expected to be on a Diwali break. So, the bandh is unlikely to impact schools and colleges.

All government offices will function as usual. No official holiday has been declared.

Public Transport:
RTC buses may operate on restricted routes, as the government itself has backed the bandh. Commuters are advised to check services in advance. The stance of taxi and auto associations is yet to be announced.

Essential Services:
Hospitals, police stations, hotels, and emergency services will remain fully operational to ensure public safety and basic amenities.

Markets and Shops:
Local markets and commercial establishments in major towns could see partial closures, with reduced footfall expected due to the bandh.
