Rangareddy Accident: Telangana RTC Bus-Truck on Hyderabad–Bijapur Highway Collision Claims 17 Lives

At least 17 people were killed and seven others injured in a tragic road accident near Mirjaguda in Chevella, Rangareddy district of Telangana, on Monday morning. The incident occurred when a gravel-laden truck collided with a Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) bus travelling from Tandur to Chevella, causing the truck to overturn and spill gravel onto the passengers.

The impact of the crash was so severe that the truck overturned, spilling gravel onto the bus, trapping and injuring several passengers inside.

Immediate Casualties and Official Statements

Chevella ACP B. Kishan confirmed that 16 individuals, including the truck driver and multiple bus passengers, died on the spot. Another succumbed to injuries later, taking the total death toll to 17.

Rajendranagar DCP Yogesh Goutam revealed that preliminary findings indicated the truck was in its proper lane, though investigators are probing whether the driver was attempting to overtake or had lost control of the vehicle.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's Response

The Telangana Chief Minister's Office posted on X (formerly Twitter) that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives. He directed officials to immediately reach the accident site and carry out relief and rescue operations. The CM also ordered that all injured be shifted to Hyderabad hospitals for advanced medical treatment and sought regular updates on their condition.

Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu's Intervention

IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu expressed shock over the tragic incident and convened a teleconference with senior officials. He instructed them to ensure swift rescue efforts and oversee the relief work personally.

The minister also directed health officials to provide the best possible medical care to those admitted at Chevella Government Hospital. He further urged authorities to reassure families of the victims and keep them informed about their relatives' health status.

Rescue Operations and Traffic Disruption

The Chevella Police confirmed that there were around 40 passengers aboard the RTC bus at the time of the accident. Emergency teams, including police and local rescue personnel, were dispatched to the site to retrieve trapped passengers and transport the injured to nearby hospitals.

Traffic on the Bijapur highway was diverted as cranes and ambulances cleared the wreckage and managed the chaotic scene.
