Hyderabad Weather Update: Govt Warns Against Stepping Out From 12 PM To 3 PM Till April 13

With temperatures set to climb sharply across Telangana over the next few days, the state government has issued a public advisory urging residents to take precautions against the heatwave. The warning comes after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast a steady rise in temperatures from April 10 to April 13, with several districts expected to record severe heat conditions.

Telangana Govt Urges People To Stay Safe During Heatwave

In its advisory issued on Thursday, April 9, the Telangana government asked people to remain hydrated and take preventive measures as the heat intensifies across the state. Citizens have been advised to drink plenty of water, use Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS), and include fruits and vegetables with high water content in their diet.

The advisory also recommended wearing light-coloured cotton clothes, staying indoors as much as possible, and ensuring that living spaces remain well-ventilated. People have specifically been told not to step out between 12 pm and 3 pm, which are expected to be the hottest hours of the day.

Along with avoiding outdoor exposure, the government advised residents not to cook during peak afternoon hours and to avoid stale food as well as high-protein, salty, spicy, and oily meals that could worsen dehydration or heat stress.

Symptoms That Need Immediate Medical Attention

The state government has also listed several warning signs that should not be ignored during the heatwave period. Residents have been asked to seek immediate help at the nearest healthcare facility if they experience symptoms such as nausea, dry skin, hot and red skin, a body temperature of 40 degrees Celsius, throbbing headache, anxiety, dizziness, or fainting.

Other symptoms flagged in the advisory include muscle weakness, cramps, rapid heartbeat, rapid shallow breathing, and serious neurological signs such as disorientation, confusion, agitation, irritability, ataxia, seizure, or coma.

The health alert is aimed at reducing the risk of heatstroke and other heat-related complications as temperatures continue to rise across the state.

IMD Forecasts Temperature Rise Across Telangana

According to the IMD's Meteorological Centre in Hyderabad, temperatures are likely to rise by 2-3°C in most parts of Telangana over the next three days. The weather bulletin released at 8.30 pm on Thursday, April 9, said dry weather is expected to prevail across the state between April 10 and April 13.

Several districts could see temperatures touching as high as 44°C on April 10, with this pattern expected to expand to most districts by April 13. While Hyderabad is expected to remain relatively lower compared to the hottest parts of the state, the city is still likely to see maximum temperatures between 36°C and 40°C till April 13.

Districts including Adilabad, Jogulamba Gadwal, Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Mahabubnagar, Mancherial, Nagarkurnool, Narayanpet, and Wanaparthy are likely to record temperatures between 41°C and 44°C over the next few days.

Meanwhile, most of the remaining districts are expected to stay in the 36°C to 40°C range during this period. Except for 11 districts, the majority of Telangana is expected to register its highest temperatures on April 13.

Telangana Weatherman Warns Of Longer Heatwave Stretch Till April 22

Beyond the IMD's immediate forecast, Telangana Weatherman Balaji has also warned of an extended and more intense spell of heat later this month. In a post shared on Thursday, he cautioned that a "POWERFUL HEATWAVE" could begin from April 12 and continue through April 22.

He wrote, "POWERFUL HEATWAVE" while warning that the entire state is likely to remain above 40°C during the period.

Balaji also said northern and eastern Telangana districts could face "SERIOUS HEAT", with temperatures crossing 44°C in some pockets.

For Hyderabad, he predicted that temperatures could remain between 40°C and 41°C continuously for around 10 days from April 12 to April 22, indicating a prolonged period of uncomfortable and potentially dangerous heat conditions for city residents as well.
