The project is aimed at reducing congestion across Miyapur, Allwyn X Roads, Hafeezpet and Bachupally, areas that frequently witness heavy vehicular movement during peak hours.
Six-lane flyover planned between Miyapur and Allwyn X Roads
As part of the approved plan, a six-lane bi-directional flyover will be constructed from Miyapur X Road to Allwyn X Road. The proposed elevated corridor is expected to significantly improve connectivity in the corridor and offer relief to daily commuters navigating one of Hyderabad's key traffic bottlenecks.
Alongside the flyover, the government has also sanctioned two additional underpass works to streamline movement in adjoining stretches.
Two underpasses to improve movement from Hafeezpet and Bachupally
The project also includes the construction of two three-lane uni-directional underpasses. One underpass will be built from Hafeezpet to Miyapur, while the second will connect Bachupally to Allwyn X Roads.
Officials believe the combination of the flyover and underpasses will help decongest multiple junctions in the western part of the city and improve travel time for commuters passing through these routes regularly.
Contract awarded at Rs 384.45 crore after tender process
The infrastructure project will be taken up at a contract value of Rs 384.45 crore. In the tendering process, M/s Shivasatya Engineering Services Private Limited emerged as the lowest bidder and has been awarded the contract for execution of the work.
The tender process was handled through the e-procurement system after the Superintending Engineer of the Projects West Zone of GHMC invited bids for the project.
Project earlier received administrative nod under H-CITI initiative
Before the final contract approval, the state government had already granted administrative sanction for the project under the H-CITI initiative, with an estimated cost of Rs 530 crore included in the State Budget.
The government had also authorised the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation to invite tenders for the proposed works. On February 10, a government committee reviewed and approved the technical evaluation of the bids submitted for the project. After examining the proposals, the committee recommended awarding the contract to Shivasatya Engineering Services Private Limited as it had submitted the lowest bid.
With the latest approval now in place, the project is expected to move towards execution, bringing a significant traffic management boost to Hyderabad's fast-growing western suburbs.
