Purple and Green Lines of Namma Metro Get New Bus Stops to Cut Transfer Time for Commuters
In an effort to improve last-mile connectivity for daily commuters, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), in coordination with the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) and the Bengaluru Traffic Police, has introduced new bus stops closer to select Metro stations on the Purple and Green Lines.
The new stops have been operational from February 5, 2026. The move follows joint inspections after commuters repeatedly raised concerns that several BMTC bus stops were located far from Metro station entrances, making transfers inconvenient, especially during peak hours.

Officials said the decision was taken after reviewing ground-level feedback and assessing pedestrian movement patterns around busy Metro corridors.
New Bus Stops on Namma Metro Purple Line
On the Purple Line, which runs between Whitefield and Challaghatta, bus connectivity has been strengthened at two key stations.
At Trinity Metro station, a new bus stop has been set up near the 'B' entrance, opposite Hotel Oberoi, for passengers travelling from M.G. Road towards Halasuru. This change is expected to reduce walking distance for commuters transferring between Metro and bus services in the central business district.
At Hoodi station, another stop has been introduced near the 'B' entrance, opposite D'Mart, benefiting commuters travelling from Seetharampalya towards Garudacharpalya. Earlier, passengers had to walk a considerable distance to access bus services.
New Bus Stops along Namma Metro Green Line
On the Green Line, which connects Madaravara to Silk Institute, multiple stations have received additional bus stop facilities.
At Majunathanagar, a new stop has been provided below the Metro station near the 'A' entrance for passengers travelling from Chikkabidarakallu towards Nagasandra.
Peenya station now has two bus stops - one opposite the station on the service road for passengers travelling from Gorguntepalya towards Peenya Industrial Area, and another below the station near the 'B' entrance for the reverse direction.
At Lalbagh station, a stop has been introduced near the 'B' entrance for commuters travelling from South End Circle towards National College. South End Circle station has received a stop near the 'A' entrance for those heading towards Jayanagar.
Jaya Prakash Nagar station now has two designated stops - one opposite the 'C' entrance for Banashankari-bound passengers and another below the 'D' entrance for those travelling towards Banashankari.
Further south, Konanakunte Cross has new stops near Pillar No. 147 (close to the 'A' entrance) for passengers travelling from Doddakallasandra towards Yelachenahalli and near Pillar No. 148 (close to the 'B' entrance) for the reverse direction.
Vajarahalli station now has stops below the 'B' entrance for commuters heading towards Doddakallasandra and near the 'A' entrance for those travelling towards Thalaghatapura. At Thalaghatapura station, bus stops have been positioned near the 'B' entrance for passengers travelling from Silk Institute towards Vajarahalli and below the 'A' entrance for the opposite direction.
BMRCL said that at several other Metro stations, BMTC bus stops are already available within 100 metres. In some locations, additional stops could not be introduced due to space limitations and traffic conditions.
Airport Bus Connectivity
Also, BMTC's Vayu Vajra airport bus services to Kempegowda International Airport are now available directly at Metro stations along the route. Airport-bound passengers can board or alight at Metro-linked stops, reducing the need for additional transfers.
Officials said the initiative is aimed at making travel more seamless and reducing dependency on private vehicles for first- and last-mile connectivity.
With these additions, integration between Metro and bus services on two of the city's busiest corridors is expected to improve, addressing long-standing commuter concerns about transfer convenience and accessibility.
