Bengaluru Flower Show 2026 at Lalbagh Draws Over 8 Lakh Visitors on Republic Day, Revenue Touches ₹2.75 Crore
This year's Republic Day flower show at Lalbagh Botanical Garden turned out to be one of the biggest editions so far, both in scale and response. Centred on celebrated Kannada writer and thinker K. Poornachandra Tejaswi, the exhibition attracted a massive turnout of more than 8.1 lakh visitors over its 13-day run.
The event, held from January 14 to January 26, saw strong ticket sales, earning over ₹2.46 crore from entry passes alone. Revenue from stalls, shops and other activities on the premises pushed the total collection close to ₹2.75 crore, according to the State Horticulture Department - a clear jump compared to last year.

Footfall data showed 5,17,103 adult visitors and 2,08,166 students attending the show. In comparison, the previous Republic Day exhibition, themed on Adikavi Maharshi Valmiki, had drawn about 4.75 lakh visitors and generated ₹2.3 crore in revenue.
The final day saw visits from members of Kuvempu's family as well as Tejaswi's family, adding to the cultural significance of the event. A dedicated bookstore set up inside the garden showcased 54 titles authored by Tejaswi and recorded sales of more than 13,000 books during the exhibition. Carvalho emerged as the most popular title, with around 3,800 copies sold.
The floral arrangements were created using nearly 35 lakh flowers sourced from Karnataka and other regions. After the show concluded, about nine lakh flowers used for decoration were earmarked for conversion into compost and organic manure. Officials said the manure would be reused within Lalbagh itself, helping reduce waste and promote sustainable gardening practices.
