Netizens are shocked after tennis sensation Saina Nehwal announced her divorce from her husband Kashyap Parupalli. What has left many wondering is his post on her, which was shared just months ago on her birthday.

In the pictures, the couple had shown no signs of trouble in their relationship and in one of the pictures, he is seen affectionately pecking her cheeks.

Responding to his post, one user commented, "What's going on Kashyap?? Can't believe your separation!!" "Wtf I just saw @nehwalsaina status about divorce," the second user expressed shock over their divorce news.

The third user stated, "They look happy in these photos and suddenly there's separation announcement. Relationships are so fragile." Another questioned, "What happen suddenly, why the separation?"

In an Instagram story on Sunday evening, Nehwal said, "Life takes us in different directions sometimes. After much thought and consideration, Kashyap Parupalli and I have decided to part ways. We're choosing peace, growth, and healing - for ourselves and each other. I'm grateful for the memories and wish nothing but the best moving forward. Thank you for understanding and respecting our privacy during this time,"

However, many have criticised Nehwal over their separation. A netizen said, "I have huge respect for Saina Nehwal as a badminton player but these people have made Marriage and love a joke. Saina Nehwal and Parupalli Kashyap married in an intimate ceremony on December 14, 2018. Both elite badminton players, they trained together at the Pullela Gopichand Academy in Hyderabad.

Saina Nehwal is celebrated as one of India's greatest sportspersons. She made history as the first Indian badminton player to win an Olympic medal, securing a bronze at the 2012 London Olympics.

She was also only the second Indian woman to win an Olympic medal after Karnam Malleshwari. Her impressive career includes two World Championship medals (one gold, one silver) and three Commonwealth Games gold medals (singles in 2010 and 2018, mixed team in 2010). She also earned two bronze medals at the Asian Games (2014, 2018). In 2015, she achieved the distinction of becoming the first Indian woman to reach the world No. 1 ranking.

Parupalli Kashyap was also a prominent male player for India, reaching a career-high ranking of 6. He famously won the men's singles gold medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and a bronze medal in the 2010 edition in Delhi.
