Pakistan T20 Franchise Sparks Controversy With 'Disrespectful' Rohit Sharma Video
A video shared by Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans has sparked outrage on social media, with fans calling it "shameful" and "inappropriate." The clip features the PSL mascot introducing the league's 2025 trophy while using an old voiceover from Indian captain Rohit Sharma's press conference after India's 2017 ICC Champions Trophy victory.
The video quickly went viral, drawing severe backlash from Indian cricket fans, who accused the franchise of mocking Rohit Sharma. Many took to social media to express their disappointment, criticizing the act as disrespectful and unnecessary. The controversy erupted just days after former Australian cricketer Brad Hogg faced criticism for mocking Pakistan's Mohammad Rizwan over his English skills.

PSL 2025 Set to Begin on April 11
Meanwhile, the 10th season of the Pakistan Super League is set to kick off on April 11, with defending champions Islamabad United taking on Lahore Qalandars at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The tournament will feature six teams playing a total of 34 matches, concluding with the final on May 18 at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium.
An exhibition match is also scheduled for April 8 in Peshawar, with team details yet to be confirmed. Rawalpindi will host 11 matches, including the Qualifier 1 on May 13, while Karachi and Multan will each host five games. The league will also have three double-headers, including matches on weekends and Labour Day.
Despite the anticipation for PSL 2025, the controversy surrounding the Rohit Sharma video has overshadowed the build-up, drawing criticism from cricket fans worldwide.
