MI vs RR IPL 2024: Rohit Sharma Fan Invades Ground, Hugs Former Mumbai Indians Captain
During the Mumbai Indians (MI) vs Rajasthan Royals (RR) Indian Premier League 2024 match at the Wankhede Stadium on April 1, another security breach incident raised everyone's eyebrows. A Rohit Sharma fan jumped over the fence and entered the field during the Rajasthan Royals inning.
Former Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma, who was standing at the first slip position was shocked when a fan from behind ran toward him and surprised him. Though, the fan only intended to meet his favorite cricketer and hug him, but it was not the right way and in fact, an offense according to the law.
The video of the incident is doing round the internet and has put a question mark on the security present at the stadium and security for players.

However, when Rohit Sharma realised that fans is harmless and had entered the ground only to meet him, he hugged the invader and asked him to go out. The fan also shook a hand with wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan, who was standing next to Rohit Sharma.
After which, the fan looked super happy and celebrated one of the best moments of his life by raising both his arms in the air.

Soon after the incident, the invader was held by ground security and was handed over to the police for invading the playing field and going close to players, which is not allowed.

The bad luck continued for Mumbai Indians even at the home ground too as MI faced 3rd consecutive defeat in the Indian Premier League 2024 edition. Since the start, Rajasthan dominated the play as Trent Boult produced early breakthroughs for his side, putting Hardik Pandya's MI under great pressure. MI lost its three batters for duck. However, Tilak Verma (32) and captain Pandya (34) tried hard to rescue their side but failed as RR bowlers were flying high.
Along with Trent Boult, spinner Yuzvendra Chahal picked up three wickets. The hosts were bundled out for a low total of 125 runs, which was chased by Rajasthan in only 15.3 overs. Thanks to Riyan Parag's unbeaten 59 runs, RR registered another thumping victory to climb at the top of the points table.
