IPL 2024: Ricky Ponting Shares A Good News For Delhi Capitals and Rishabh Pant Fans

Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, who luckily escaped a deadly car accident in December 2022, is all set to return on the cricket field said Delhi Capitals coach and former Australian captain Ricky Ponting. Ponting said Rishabh is fit enough and confident about participating in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024).

The good news of Rishabh Pant's return, who is an ace batsman and emerged as a hero on several occasions for his side, excited cricket lovers and his followers.

However, Ponting added that Pant might not be donning the wicketkeeping gloves and is likely to play as a batsman only for the Delhi Capitals this time.

"Rishabh is very confident that he's going to be right to play. In what capacity we're not quite sure yet. You would have seen all the social media stuff, he's up and about and running well. But in saying that we're only six weeks away from the first game as well. So we're not sure if we'll get wicketkeeping out of him this year," Cricbuzz quoted Delhi Capitals' head coach Ricky Ponting.

He further added that Rishabh wants to play every match and is eager to take the field.

"If I asked him now he'll say, 'I'm playing every game, I'm keeping every game and I'm batting at No.4.' That's just what he's like, but we'll keep our fingers crossed," Poting added.

Ponting also told the media that if Rishabh Pant doesn't take the field then David Warner will lead the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024 edition.
