IPL 2024 Likely To Begin From March 22, Final On May 16

The eagerly awaited 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is expected to kick off on March 22, marking the commencement of the new season for cricket enthusiasts in the cash-rich Indian league. However, the confirmed schedule for IPL 2024 is pending, contingent on the timings of the Lok Sabha Elections.

As per information from Cricbuzz, the high-profile cricket tournament is projected to commence on March 22 and conclude on May 26. Nevertheless, the official confirmation awaits the announcement of Lok Sabha Poll dates. The Men's tournament is strategically positioned between the Women's Premier League (WPL) and the T20 World Cup 2024. The tentative dates for WPL, as per the report, range from February 22 to March 17, with an official announcement imminent.

IPL 2024 is positioned as a crucial prelude to the T20 World Cup 2024, serving as the final dress rehearsal. Both Indian and foreign players participating in the tournament will aim to fine-tune their skills. The T20 World Cup is scheduled to begin on June 1, just six days after the conclusion of the IPL. India's inaugural match in the World Cup is set for June 5 against Ireland.

Despite the concurrent elections, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) expresses confidence in hosting the tournament in India. This marks the fourth instance of the Indian tournament coinciding with a Lok Sabha election year. In 2009 and 2014, the IPL was relocated outside the country, but in 2019, it successfully took place in India amidst the national polls.
