IND vs BAN: Virat Kohli Becomes Fastest Batter To Complete 27,000 International Runs, Surpasses Tendulkar

Virat Kohli achieved a significant milestone by becoming the fastest cricketer to score 27,000 runs in international cricket. This feat was accomplished during his innings on Day 4 of the second Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur. Despite modest scores of 6 and 17 in the first Test in Chennai, Kohli adopted an aggressive approach, following Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal's lead, to reach 35 runs and secure this landmark.

Kohli is now the quickest player to achieve this record, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar who reached it in 623 innings. Kohli managed this feat in just his 594th international innings. Kumar Sangakkara and Ricky Ponting follow with 648 and 650 innings respectively. This achievement places Kohli among an elite group of cricketers who have reached such heights in their careers.

Unfortunately, Kohli's time at the crease was cut short by Shakib Al Hasan. In what could be Shakib's final Test match, he bowled a delivery that stayed low, leading Kohli to miss an expansive sweep shot that resulted in his middle stump being hit. This dismissal marked a crucial moment in the game for Bangladesh.

Most Runs in International Cricket

The list of top run-scorers in international cricket is led by Sachin Tendulkar with 34,357 runs from 782 innings. Following him are Kumar Sangakkara with 28,016 runs from 666 innings and Ricky Ponting with 27,483 runs from 668 innings. Virat Kohli currently stands at fourth place with 27,012 runs from just 594 innings.

India aims to establish a lead of at least 150 runs to exert pressure on Bangladesh during their second innings. The Kanpur Test has been challenging due to weather disruptions; two full days were lost and only limited play was possible on the opening day. Despite these setbacks, India remains hopeful for a favourable outcome.

KL Rahul joined Yashasvi Jaiswal as another Indian batter to score a half-century during this Test match. Rahul achieved his fifty at an impressive pace off just 33 balls. His performance provided much-needed momentum for India as they continued their efforts against Bangladesh.

This achievement by Virat Kohli not only highlights his exceptional talent but also cements his place among cricket's greats. His ability to reach such milestones consistently showcases his dedication and skill on the international stage.
