Ind Vs Aus: Rumours Claim Rohit Sharma, Gautam Gambhir Are Not On Same Page
India's cricket team has faced criticism following poor performances in the Adelaide and Brisbane Tests against Australia. Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali speculated on a possible rift between captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Gautam Gambhir. He suggested they might not be aligned in their strategies, impacting the team's performance.
During the rain-affected third Test at the Gabba, India struggled, with only Jasprit Bumrah standing out. Bumrah took six wickets for 76 runs in Australia's first innings, but the hosts set a daunting 445-run target. India's batting faltered, reaching just 48 for four.

Speculations of Dressing Room Divide
Basit Ali shared his thoughts on his YouTube channel, suggesting that Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir have not been in sync since Gambhir replaced Rahul Dravid as head coach in July. "Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir are not on the same page," he stated, citing various series where this was evident.
In Adelaide, Bumrah had also led India's bowling attack with figures of 4 for 61. However, Australia's first innings total of 337 proved too much for India. The Indian batsmen failed to score even a half-century, allowing Australia to chase a mere 19-run target easily.
Questionable Team Decisions
Basit pointed out inconsistencies in India's team selection during the series. He questioned why different spinners were chosen for each Test and criticised the decision to bowl first at the Gabba. According to him, India should have opted for Washington Sundar or Ravichandran Ashwin instead of Ravindra Jadeja due to Australia's left-handed batsmen.
The absence of a left-arm pacer in India's squad was highlighted as a significant weakness by Basit. He noted that bowlers like Mir Hamza or Shaheen Shah Afridi could trouble batsmen like Travis Head due to their unique angle. "India don't have a left-arm fast bowler in their squad," he remarked.
Bumrah's Lone Battle
Basit expressed concerns over India's heavy reliance on Jasprit Bumrah. He felt that other bowlers were not performing up to expectations, making it seem like "Bumrah vs Australia." The lack of support from other bowlers has been a persistent issue for India throughout the series.
The ongoing challenges faced by India's cricket team highlight potential strategic misalignments and selection dilemmas. Addressing these issues will be crucial for improving future performances against strong opponents like Australia.
