ICC Bans Shakib Al Hasan From Bowling In Domestic And International Cricket
Shakib Al Hasan, a prominent cricketer from Bangladesh, has been barred from bowling in all competitions overseen by ICC-approved national federations. This suspension applies both domestically and internationally. The decision follows a ruling by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) after Shakib's recent suspension by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) for an illegal bowling action.
Shakib's bowling action came under scrutiny during a county match in September. He was subsequently assessed at Loughborough University, an ICC-accredited testing centre, where he failed the evaluation. According to ICC rules, any suspension imposed by a national federation is automatically recognised globally by the ICC and other national bodies.

Suspension Details and Future Prospects
The BCB has confirmed Shakib's suspension and stated that he will soon undergo another assessment to determine if his bowling action can be approved. If he passes this reassessment, Shakib will be allowed to bowl again in international matches and domestic competitions worldwide. Despite this setback, he remains eligible to play as a batter in all formats of the game.
This year has been particularly challenging for Shakib's career. His involvement as a Member of Parliament during civil unrest in Bangladesh has notably affected his international playing status. Currently, Shakib is participating in the Lanka T10 competition but has refrained from bowling in recent matches for his team, Galle Marvels.
Impact on International Play
Shakib's suspension highlights the strict enforcement of regulations regarding bowling actions in cricket. The global recognition of such suspensions ensures that players adhere to fair play standards across all cricketing nations. This situation underscores the importance of maintaining legal bowling actions to avoid disruptions in a player's career.
Despite these challenges, Shakib continues to contribute to his team as a batter. His ability to adapt and focus on batting showcases his resilience and dedication to the sport. As he awaits reassessment, fans remain hopeful for his return as a bowler on the international stage.
The cricketing community closely watches Shakib's situation, recognising his significant contributions to the sport over the years. His journey serves as a reminder of the rigorous standards players must meet and maintain throughout their careers.
