David Warner Likely To Miss White Ball Games Against West Indies, Here's Why

Australia's explosive opener David Warner has decided to skip the T20I and ODI series against the West Indies slated for February 2024, according to the reports. The reports said that the left-hander has decided to join the Dubai Capitals for the upcoming International League T20.

Warner, who is set to bid adieu to the international cricket will play his last match at Sydney against Pakistan next week. Before his involvement in the ILT20 in February, Warner will be seen in action during the ongoing Big Bash League.

Talking to the media, Australian Cricketers' Association Chief Executive, Greenberg confirmed the news. Following the conclusive Test against Pakistan next week, Warner is slated to represent the Sydney Thunder in the BBL. Subsequently, Australia is slated to play a two-match Test series against the West Indies commencing on January 17. Notably, he won't participate in the white-ball segment of the series starting from February 2. Instead, Warner will join the Dubai-based team for the ILT20, which is set to take place between January 19 and February 17.

"I think the short answer to that is probably yes. I know he's pretty committed to the BBL. There's no doubt in the next phase of Dave's life he's going to be looking to ply his trade where he gets the best return on his investment. I don't think there's anything wrong with that I'm encouraging him to do that. There will be times when he'll be looking to miss certain games and tours. That's the sort of flexibility we've got to get our heads around. Some people won't like that, but that's the modern world in which we're living and we have to embrace it," Greenberg said.

The Kangaroos are likely to test their bench strength ahead of the T2O World Cup scheduled for June next year.
