Pune Municipal Corporation Slaps Notices To 226 Unauthorised Ganesh Idol Manufacturers
The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has intensified efforts against unauthorisedesh idol vendors and pandals. Recently, PMC issued notices to 226 vendors for setting up stalls on roads and footpaths, causing traffic issues. Additionally, three Ganesh mandals received notices for extending their pandals beyond permitted areas.
The PMC's Anti-Encroachment Department is spearheading this initiative. Deputy Commissioner Somanth Banker highlighted that ward offices are responsible for addressing these violations. "Our primary focus is on removing illegal stalls that impede traffic flow," Banker said. "The Sinhagad Road area has seen the highest number of infractions, with notices served to 31 idol sellers. Conversely, the Yeolewadi ward office has reported no violations."

Managing Public Spaces During Festivities
This crackdown is part of the PMC's broader strategy to manage city infrastructure during Ganesh Chaturthi. The goal is to ensure public spaces remain accessible and safe for all residents during the festival. The enforcement action reflects the PMC's dedication to maintaining order and preventing disruptions during this busy period.
Ward offices are expected to follow up on these notices and take necessary actions to clear any obstructions. This move aims to balance festive celebrations with the need for orderly public spaces, addressing concerns raised by commuters and local residents.
The Sinhagad Road area recorded the highest number of infractions, with 31 idol sellers receiving notices. In contrast, Yeolewadi ward office reported no violations. This disparity highlights varying levels of compliance across different parts of the city.
Ensuring Smooth Traffic Flow
By targeting illegal stalls that block traffic, the PMC aims to ensure smooth movement throughout the city during Ganesh Chaturthi. This approach not only facilitates better traffic management but also enhances safety for pedestrians and drivers alike.
The PMC's actions underscore its commitment to balancing cultural festivities with civic responsibilities. Ensuring that public spaces are not obstructed by unauthorised stalls or pandals is crucial for maintaining order in a densely populated city like Pune.
Overall, these measures reflect a proactive approach by the PMC to address potential disruptions during one of the city's most significant festivals. By enforcing regulations strictly, they aim to create a harmonious environment where celebrations can proceed without hindering daily life.
