26-Year-Old UP Woman Found Dead In Hotel Room In Pune, Boyfriend In Custody
A man, identified as Rishabh Nigam, has been apprehended for the alleged murder of his girlfriend, Vandana Dwivedi, a 26-year-old software engineer from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred in a hotel room in the Laxminagar area of Hinjewadi, Maharashtra's Pune. Dwivedi, who had been working with Infosys in Hinjewadi for the past two years, was found dead from gunshot wounds inflicted by Nigam using a pistol on Saturday night.
The crime came to light the following day when hotel staff reported the incident to the police. Rishabh Nigam, a resident of Lucknow, was arrested on Sunday in Navi Mumbai and subsequently handed over to the Pune police's crime branch. A pistol was seized from Nigam during his arrest.

According to a senior police officer, Nigam harbored suspicions that Dwivedi was neglecting him, possibly leading to the fatal confrontation. The two had known each other since 2014, residing in the same locality in Lucknow and were in a relationship.
A murder case has been filed against Rishabh Nigam under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The police are currently conducting an interrogation to ascertain the exact motive behind the killing. The tragic incident unfolded on January 26 when Nigam booked a room at a private hotel, and heated arguments between the couple escalated into violence, resulting in Dwivedi's death between 9.30 PM and 10 PM. Preliminary investigations suggest a longstanding dispute between the two individuals.
