Delhi Polls: Wind Up Alliance If It Was Only For Parliament Polls, Says Omar Abdullah Over AAP-Congress' Fight
Amid the Congress and the AAP fight at the Delhi Assembly polls, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday said that the alliance should be ended if it was meant only for the Parliament elections held last year.
Here's What Omar Abdullah Says

"... I cannot say anything about what's going on in Delhi because we have nothing to do with Delhi Elections... As far as I remember, there was no time limit to the INDIA alliance. Unfortunately, no INDIA alliance meeting is being organised so there is no clarity about leadership, agenda, or our (INDIA bloc's) existence... They should wind up the alliance in case it was just for the Parliament elections..," Mr Abdullah told news agency ANI.
The Congress and AAP, partners in the INDIA bloc, have been openly clashing during the campaign for the Delhi Assembly elections. Congress leaders have accused AAP of corruption and poor governance, while AAP has countered by alleging Congress's collusion with the BJP.
The rivalry is especially notable since the two parties had joined forces for the Lok Sabha elections last year. However, their ongoing feud has highlighted deep divisions within the opposition bloc.
AAP Convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has accused the Congress and BJP of having an informal alliance, going so far as to suggest they make it official.
INDIA Bloc's Future in Question
The tension isn't limited to Delhi. Relations between Congress and AAP soured after the two failed to form an alliance for the Haryana elections. The situation worsened when senior Congress leader Ajay Maken allegedly referred to Kejriwal as "anti-national," prompting AAP to demand action against him. AAP has even threatened to push for Congress's removal from the INDIA bloc.
A Three-Cornered Contest
The Delhi Assembly elections are shaping up to be a three-way battle among AAP, BJP, and Congress, with the rivalry between AAP and Congress adding a unique layer to the contest.
Abdullah's remarks serve as a sharp reminder of the growing cracks within the opposition INDIA alliance. Without clear leadership or direction, the coalition's unity appears increasingly fragile, raising questions about its ability to present a united front in future elections.
