Delhi Police Leak In Swati Maliwal Assault Case Sparks AAP Concern
During a press briefing on Sunday, the questioning of the Delhi Police's role in the case concerning the alleged assault on Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal was led by Aam Aadmi Party leader Saurabh Bharadwaj.
Accusations were made by Bharadwaj, who accused the Delhi Police of leaking information pertaining to the case to both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the media.

Specifically, Bharadwaj highlighted that on May 13, information concerning the case involving Swati Maliwal and Bibhav Kumar became public knowledge, with the Delhi Police, aligned with the BJP, divulging details suggesting that Swati Maliwal had made a call to 112, as reported by Hindustan Times.
"The photo of the DD entry - indicating when the call was received - was even released by the Delhi Police. Their political motives are being served by such actions, which is unprecedented," remarked Saurabh Bharadwaj. He further highlighted the circulation of false information alleging the disappearance of CCTV footage and DVR related to the case, as reported by Hindustan Times.
"Since yesterday, there has been misinformation about the missing CCTV footage and DVR. However, the reality is that the Delhi Police seized all the CCTV footage, including the DVR, from the chief minister's residence," the AAP leader stated, raising the question of why the Delhi Police persist in spreading falsehoods.
Confidential information pertaining to the case is being shared with the media and circulated on social platforms, Bharadwaj added. "According to the country's laws, FIRs under Section 354 (Molestation) are supposed to remain confidential," he emphasized. "However, immediately after registration, the FIR is disseminated to all media via WhatsApp and various online channels."
He continued, "The accused had not received a copy of the FIR until last night. All indications from Delhi Police's investigations suggest a concerted effort to discredit the Aam Aadmi Party just four days before the election," as per media reports.
In the Swati Maliwal assault case, the AAP Rajya Sabha MP alleged that Bibhav Kumar assaulted her at the chief minister's residence, unprovoked. Kumar, who serves as a personal assistant to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, was taken into police custody on May 18 following Maliwal's complaint.
He was subsequently arrested and remanded to five days in police custody by a local court. Kumar also lodged a complaint accusing Maliwal of unauthorized entry, verbal abuse, and threats, while implicating the Bharatiya Janata Party in the matter.
