Dating Scam Exposed: Four Women Arrested For Hostage Scheme In Delhi
In a disturbing revelation, Delhi police have arrested four women allegedly involved in a dating scam that targeted unsuspecting men. The scheme involved luring victims to Tiger Cafe, where they were coerced into paying exorbitant bills for food and drinks.
If the men hesitated or refused to comply, they were reportedly held hostage until their demands were met.

How the Scam Worked
The operation was orchestrated through popular dating apps, where the women would connect with their targets. After establishing a rapport, they would invite the men to Tiger Cafe, known for its trendy atmosphere. Once there, the women would order a large quantity of overpriced food and drinks, racking up substantial bills.
Upon presenting the inflated bill, the women would pressure their companions to pay, as reported by Hindustan Times. If the men expressed reluctance or inability to cover the cost, they were threatened and kept against their will until they complied.
This tactic exploited the victims' embarrassment and fear, leading many to pay up rather than risk further confrontation.
Discovery and Police Action
The scam came to light when one victim managed to escape and contacted law enforcement for help. Responding swiftly, police arrived at the scene and rescued the man, ensuring his safety. Based on his complaint, officers registered a First Information Report (FIR) and launched an investigation into the matter.
Authorities reported that the arrested women were part of a larger network operating within the city. Police have indicated that similar incidents might have occurred, urging other potential victims to come forward with their experiences.
Official Statements
Swatantra Singh, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in Indirapuram, provided an update on the case, stating, "Further action is being taken." The police have indicated that they are reviewing surveillance footage and gathering more evidence to ensure all those involved are held accountable.
Community Concerns
This incident has raised alarm within the community regarding the prevalence of scams and safety concerns associated with dating apps. Many users remain unaware of the risks involved in meeting strangers in public spaces, especially in light of such deceptive practices.
Authorities are advising the public to exercise caution when engaging with individuals online and to choose well-known venues for meetings. It's crucial for users to inform friends or family of their plans and to maintain open communication during such encounters.
