August 16 Delhi Traffic Advisory For Shri Krishna Janmashtami Celebrations

The Delhi Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory for August 16, anticipating large gatherings at the ISKCON Temple in East of Kailash for Shri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations. The advisory outlines road closures, diversions, and restrictions on heavy vehicles in parts of south and southeast Delhi to manage the expected crowds effectively.

From 8 a.m. on August 16 to 2 a.m. on August 17, special arrangements will be in place around the ISKCON Temple. During this period, heavy, medium, and light goods vehicles will be prohibited on key routes. This is to ensure smooth traffic flow and safety during the festivities.

Traffic Diversions and Road Closures

Raja Dheer Sen Marg will be reserved exclusively for pedestrians between Captain Gaur Marg and Sant Nagar Traffic Signal during the event. Only local residents' vehicles will be permitted between Captain Gaur Marg T-point and Sant Nagar Traffic Signal. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes such as Captain Gaur Marg, Outer Ring Road, Mahatma Gandhi Marg, and Lala Lajpat Rai Marg.

Specific traffic diversions have been planned: Vehicles from Mahatma Gandhi Marg (Inner Ring Road) heading towards Captain Gaur Marg Ring Road Crossing will be rerouted via Ashram or Moolchand. Similarly, those from Outer Ring Road towards Captain Gaur Marg Outer Ring Road Crossing will be redirected to Modi Mill Flyover.

Public Transport Recommendations

The police strongly recommend using public transport to avoid inconvenience. Devotees and visitors are encouraged to take the Delhi Metro, with NSIC Okhla station being the nearest stop for those heading to the temple via Captain Gaur Marg.

Commuters should plan their journeys in advance and adhere to on-ground signs and instructions from traffic personnel. This will help ensure a smoother experience during the celebrations.

Additional Diversions in Rohini

On August 17, separate diversions are announced for a special programme in Rohini. Roads with full or partial closures include Bhagwan Mahavir Road, Bawana Road, Kanjhawala Road, Kanjhawala Link Road, and Badsha Dahiya Marg. These measures aim to maintain safety and facilitate smooth traffic flow during the event.
