Watch | Mumbai Viral Video: IndiGo Flight Delay Leads To Heated Confrontation With Ground Staff

A video showing frustrated passengers arguing with ground staff at Mumbai airport has gone viral, sparking discussions online. The clip, shared on September 28 by an X handle named @gharkekalesh, captures a heated exchange between passengers and female ground staff members near a boarding gate.

According to the video, passengers were upset because they had not been informed about the delay of their IndiGo flight, which kept them waiting for over five hours. The situation escalated when a man, clearly angry, demanded answers from the ground staff. Other passengers quickly joined in, voicing their frustration. One woman can be heard asking, "Dusre sab flights chale gaye, yeh kyun nahi jaa raha hai?" which translates to "Other flights have left; what's holding back this flight?"

As the video progresses, the passengers request the security personnel to call a manager, indicating their dissatisfaction with the situation. Since its release, the video has received more than 33.69 million views, prompting a variety of reactions from social media users. While some praised the ground staff for remaining calm during the confrontation, others criticized IndiGo for allegedly mistreating its passengers.

One user remarked, "He is so frustrated. But the crew can't do anything as it's in their control to stop the delay. I have seen such frustration in Australia when flights are delayed. They have so much patience and respect for crew members." Conversely, another user expressed concern over the man's behaviour, stating, "How weirdly is that man behaving?! I understand delayed flights can be frustrating, but he can't get into her face. Also, ground staff are just helpless; they can't really do anything about it."

Additionally, a third commenter suggested that if passengers can be penalised for being late, airlines should face fines for each hour they delay flights. This incident follows an earlier delay this month, where an IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Doha made passengers wait in the aircraft for almost five hours before asking them to deboard and wait in a holding area.
