This alarming event underscores the constant danger faced by medical professionals while on duty. A fellow doctor, speaking on the condition of anonymity, emphasized the urgent need for enhanced security measures in hospitals. "The safety of our doctors is non-negotiable. Immediate action is required to implement strict security protocols across all healthcare facilities," the doctor stated in Times Now,

The incident comes amidst widespread protests by doctors, nurses, and other medical staff nationwide. They are demanding a central law to combat violence against healthcare personnel, advocating for hospitals to be declared safe zones with mandatory security provisions.

In response to these protests, the Union Home Ministry has directed all state police forces to provide regular updates on the law and order situation, with reports to be submitted every two hours.

This directive follows the recent case of a postgraduate trainee doctor who was allegedly raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. The shocking crime has intensified calls for better protection of healthcare workers.

The Calcutta High Court has since transferred the Kolkata case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for further investigation. Meanwhile, the medical community continues to press for urgent reforms to ensure the safety and well-being of those who dedicate their lives to saving others.
