Shinde Sena's Seasoned Politician Chandradeep Narke Vs Congress' Rahul Patil In Maharashtra's Karveer Seat
The Karveer constituency, considered the largest electoral region in the Kolhapur district, is witnessing an intense political battle. This constituency covers three talukas: Gaganbawda, Panhala, and Karveer.
With around 275 villages in these talukas, the fight here is set to be a close one, with Shinde Sena candidate Chandradeep Narke facing off against Congress' Rahul Patil.

Shiv Sena's Influence in the Constituency
Politics in Kolhapur is often driven by factions rather than political parties. The district has several influential groups, including the P.N. Patil group, Banti Patil group, Mushrif group, Mahadik group, Kore group, Mane group, and Narke group.
In the past, the Shetkari Kamgar Party held sway over the Karveer constituency. However, Narke made the constituency a Shiv Sena stronghold after representing it twice. In the 2019 election, Congress's P.N. Patil defeated Narke, and the Congress flag was raised in the constituency. However, following the death of P.N. Patil during the Lok Sabha elections, his son Rahul Patil was nominated by Congress. This is Rahul Patil's first election, and given that Narke has the experience of contesting three elections, he is considered the stronger contender.
Mahadik Group's Support for Narke
The politics of this taluka revolve around the sugar industry, and the Kumbhi Sugar Factory is seen as an advantage for Chandradeep Narke. With the support of the Mahadik group, Narke's position has strengthened. Vinay Kore, influential in the Panhala taluka, has an impact on the 68 villages that are connected to the Karveer constituency, making it likely that his Kore group will also support Narke in the final stages of the election.
Support from Prominent Leaders for Narke
After the death of Congress leader P.N. Patil, some believe that his son Rahul Patil will receive sympathy votes. However, since this is Rahul Patil's first election, his ability to manage party workers will determine his chances of success. On the other hand, Shiv Sena's Chandradeep Narke has gained crucial backing from prominent leaders like Guardian Minister Hasan Mushrif and MP Dhananjay Mahadik. Narke has also succeeded in persuading many workers from opposition groups to join his camp, which may give him an edge in the election. Thanks to the ruling Mahayuti government, Narke has used development projects and his strong public relations to create a favorable atmosphere for his campaign.
Narke Secures ₹100 Crore Fund
On October 29, Chandradeep Narke filed his nomination papers with around 20,000 supporters attending a rally to show their strength. As the rally proceeded, the road from Khanvilkar Petrol Pump to Ramanmal Chowk was painted in saffron.
During the event, Narke highlighted that Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had allocated ₹100 crore for the Karveer constituency. He also pointed out that the benefits of all the Mahayuti government's schemes had reached every household in the last five years. Narke's success in uniting BJP, Ajit Pawar's faction, and Shiv Sena's Shinde faction workers gives him a solid advantage, raising the question of whether the relatively inexperienced Rahul Patil will be able to compete with Narke.
