Mumbai will witness a temperature difference of 16 degrees Celsius between day and night. The afternoons will be warm while the nights and early mornings will be chilling.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature in Mumbai will drop to 16 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature will be 35 degrees Celsius. The temperatures are likely to stay in this range whole week.

The minimum temperature will settle at 19 degrees Celsius and the maximum will be at 34 degrees Celsius in Mumbai today. Similarly, tomorrow the minimum temperature in Mumbai will be 20 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature will reach 35 degrees Celsius.
On January 31, the minimum temperature will settle at 19 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperature will hover around 33 degrees Celsius. In the first three days of the next month, Mumbai will witness this same range of temperature.
Doctors Advise To 'Mumbaikars'
This major difference in the temperature may affect people's health and so doctors are advising caution regarding outdoor activities and food consumption. Dr Kapil Sagila who works at Bombay Hospital highlights the increased risk of viral infections. He suggests not to sit in the cold soon after getting exposed to sunlight. In addition to this, he asks 'Mumbaikars' to exercise caution with refrigerated food. Apart from these, people allergic to pollution are advised to wear masks.
An infectious disease specialist at Hiranandani Hospital, Dr Neeraj Tulara tells NavBharat Times, a news agency that when temperature difference exceeds 10 degrees Celsius, the risk of viral infections like cold and cough increases. Therefore, wearing masks, especially in the morning hours when pollution levels are high is recommended.
Why This Difference In Temperature?
Sunil Kamble from IMD Mumbai explains that the city is experiencing a rise in mercury levels due to a change in wind patterns caused by an anti-cyclonic development. He said, "There is an anti-cyclonic development because of which we are receiving south-easterly winds. The temperatures are expected to soar with the maximum temperatures hovering between 34 and 35 degrees Celsius because of this change in wind directions. The temperature are likely to stay in this range till the onset of February at least."
