Mumbai: Traffic Advisory For Maharashtra Chief Minister's Swearing-in Ceremony On December 5
The Mumbai Police have issued a traffic advisory for December 5 due to the swearing-in ceremony of Maharashtra's Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister. BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis will take the oath as the new Chief Minister, succeeding Eknath Shinde. Ajit Pawar from NCP will assume the role of Deputy CM. The event is scheduled at Azad Maidan in south Mumbai at 5:30 pm.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Ministers, and senior BJP leaders are expected to attend the ceremony. To avoid public inconvenience, the traffic advisory will be effective from noon on December 5 until the program concludes. The Mumbai Traffic Police have suggested using public transport, especially trains, as there are no parking facilities at Azad Maidan Ground.

Traffic Restrictions and Alternative Routes
Traffic on Mahapalika Marg will be restricted from CSMT Junction to Vasudev Balawant Phadake Chowk (Metro Junction) in both directions. An alternative route is available via L.T Marg, Chakala Junction, a right turn onto DN Road, then back to CSMT Junction towards your destination.
Mahatma Gandhi Marg will also see traffic restrictions between Chafekar Bandhu Chowk (O.C.S. Junction) and Vasudev Balawant Phadake Chowk (Metro Junction). Commuters can use L.T Marg through Chakala Junction or divert to Maharishi Karve Road as an alternative route.
On Hajarimal Somani Marg, traffic will be prohibited from Chafekar Bandhu Chowk (O.C.S Junction) to CSMT Junction. Drivers can take an alternate path via Hutatma Chowk, Kalaghoda, K Dubhash Marg, and Shahid Bhagat Singh Marg to reach their destinations.
The Meghdoot Bridge [Princess Street Bridge] southbound traffic from N S Road and Coastal Road towards Shyamaldas Gandhi Junction will face restrictions. Commuters should use N.S.Road instead for their travel needs.
Rambhau Salgaonkar Road will operate as a two-way street between Indu Clinic Junction (Sayyed Jamadar Chowk) and Volga Chowk from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm on December 5. This temporary change aims to ease congestion during the event hours.
The swearing-in ceremony marks a significant political transition in Maharashtra with Devendra Fadnavis taking over as Chief Minister. The event's high-profile attendance underscores its importance in the state's political landscape.
