Mumbai Local Train Update: Central Railway Announces Mega Block On July 27

On 27th July, Central Railway's Mumbai Division will conduct a Mega Block on its suburban sections for engineering and maintenance tasks. This will affect services on both the Main and Harbour lines. The block is scheduled from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm between Thane and Kalyan stations, impacting UP and DOWN slow lines.
During this period, DOWN Slow/Semi-fast trains departing Mulund from 10:43 am to 3:53 pm will be rerouted onto the DOWN FAST line between Mulund and Kalyan. These trains will stop at Thane, Kalva, Mumbra, Diva, and Dombivali stations, arriving at their destinations 10 minutes later than usual.
Impact on UP Slow/Semi-Fast Services
Similarly, UP Slow/Semi-fast services leaving Kalyan from 10:36 am to 3:51 pm will be diverted onto the UP FAST line between Kalyan and Mulund. They will halt at Dombivali, Diva, Mumbra, Kalva, and Thane stations before being redirected back to the UP SLOW line at Mulund station. These services are also expected to reach their destinations with a delay of 10 minutes.
Thane locals will continue operating on the regular DOWN slow line. All UP and DOWN slow services departing or arriving at CSMT Mumbai between 11:00 am and 5:00 pm are anticipated to run approximately 10 minutes late.
Harbour Line Adjustments
The Panvel-Vashi UP and DOWN Harbour lines will experience service disruptions from 11:05 am to 4:05 pm. However, this excludes the Port line. At Panvel station specifically, there will be an MRVC block from 11:05 am to 5:05 pm.
UP Harbour line trains heading towards CSMT Mumbai that leave Panvel between 10:33 am and 5:07 pm will be cancelled. Similarly, DOWN Harbour line services heading towards Panvel/Belapur departing CSMT Mumbai from 9:45 am to 3:44 pm will not operate during this period.
Trans-Harbour Line Service Changes
The Trans-Harbour line services towards Thane leaving Panvel from 11:02 am to 4:26 pm are also cancelled. Conversely, DOWN Transharbour line trains heading towards Panvel departing Thane from 10:01 am to 4:24 pm will not run during this time frame.
To accommodate passengers during the block period, special local trains will operate on the CSMT – Vashi section. Additionally, Trans-harbour line services between Thane-Vashi/Nerul stations will remain available throughout the block period.
An official from Central Railway stated that "These maintenance mega blocks are essential for infrastructure upkeep and safety. Passengers are requested to bear with the Railway Administration for the inconvenience caused."
