Mumbai Doctor Cheated Of Rs 7 Lakh After Being Lured Into Trading Scam By Deepfake 'Mukesh Ambani'
A 54-year-old female Ayurveda doctor from Mumbai has fallen prey to a share trading scam that lured her into the trap via a deepfake video of Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani speaking highly of a firm named 'Rajiv Sharma Trade Group'. The scamsters encouraged her to join its BGF Investment Academy for profitable returns.
Notably, this is the second such deepfake video of Ambani endorsing a stock trading mentorship programme. Earlier this year, he was seen urging his people to 'follow' his 'student Veenit' on social media to get advised on investments free-of-cost.

Between May 28 and June 10, Dr KKH Patil was duped when she transferred a total of Rs 7.1 lakh to 16 different bank accounts after being enamoured by the attractive benefits and Ambani's 'endorsement', reported Times of India.
She came to know about the fraud only after she tried to withdraw the Rs 30 lakh that was reflecting as 'profit' on her initial investment on the trading website.
The Oshiwara police on filed an FIR against unidentified people under IPC on Wednesday. The case was booked under IT Act and IPC Sections for impersonating and cheating. Cops say that the scamsters used deepfake technology to create Ambani's fake video.
"Police are in touch with nodal officers of banks to block the money that she was made to transfer," informed and officer.
The doctor apparently came across the video on Instagram and was convinced by the 'legitimate' endorsement. She invested her money after researching online about the company which has offices in London and Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC).
