Mumbai Air Quality Index: Find Out Which Areas Are Breathing The Worst Air Today

The air quality in Mumbai has dipped to poor levels, with major pollutants exceeding safe limits, according to aqi.in. The current Air Quality Index (AQI) in the city stands at 106, which is 1.06 times higher than the average AQI recorded across Maharashtra. The poor air quality is primarily due to elevated levels of particulate matter, especially PM10 and PM2.5.

The current weather conditions in Mumbai include an overcast sky with a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius. The humidity level is at 47 per cent, and the wind is blowing at a speed of 16 kilometres per hour. The UV index is low, standing at 0.

Key Air Pollutants In Mumbai

The key air quality indicators for Mumbai show that PM10 levels are at 108 µg/m³, which is considered poor. The PM2.5 levels stand at 40 µg/m³, categorised as moderate. Additionally, carbon monoxide (CO) levels have reached 266 ppb, while sulphur dioxide (SO2) is measured at 4 ppb. Nitrogen dioxide (NO2) levels are at 15 ppb, and ozone (O3) levels are recorded at 6 ppb.

The air quality in various parts of Mumbai varies significantly, with several areas experiencing poor air quality. In Bandra, the AQI is poor at 102, while Bandra Kurla Complex shows a similar level with an AQI of 101. Colaba has particularly high pollution, with an AQI of 147, and Deonar is even worse at 170. Meanwhile, Navy Nagar Colaba records a poor AQI of 150.

In contrast, some regions show moderate air quality. Bandra East has an AQI of 95, while Borivali East measures 86. Similarly, Juhu reports a moderate AQI of 93, and Kurla stands at 99. The Mumbai US Consulate area shows a moderate level of 98.

Poor air quality continues in Mahape with an AQI of 113, Malad at 111, and Mazgaon reaching 131. Nerul and Powai are also affected, with AQIs of 118 and 103, respectively. Vasai West shows poor air quality at 123, while Worli also falls in the poor category with an AQI of 103.

However, some areas like Borivali East MPCB (67), Khindipada Bhandup West (73), and Vile Parle West (94) show moderate levels. Siddharth Nagar Worli records a moderate AQI of 95, indicating relatively better conditions compared to other parts of the city.
