Narendra Mehta of the BJP took an early lead in the Mira Bhayandar constituency during the Maharashtra Assembly elections in 2024, positioning himself ahead of the Congress candidate, Syed Muzaffar Hussain.
The constituency, part of the Mumbai-Thane region in Thane district, has been a focal point in the state's political landscape, being one of the 288 Assembly constituencies in Maharashtra. The election, held on November 20, 2024, attracted votes from a diverse electorate, underlining the significance of this urban seat in the broader state politics.

The voter turnout in the Mira Bhayandar constituency for the 2024 Assembly elections was recorded at 51.76%, which was a slight dip compared to the 48.14% turnout in 2019. This constituency, numbered as Assembly constituency no.145, spans an area of approximately 67.26 square kilometers and plays a pivotal role in the Thane district's political dynamics. Mira Bhayandar is also an integral part of the Thane Lok Sabha constituency, which witnessed a victory for the Shiv Sena (SS) in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, with Naresh Ganpat Mhaske securing the seat.
In the 2024 race, the constituency saw a total of 17 candidates contesting, indicating a more competitive field compared to previous years. The number of candidates increased from 12 in 2019, 10 in 2014, and 13 in 2009, mirroring the growing political interest in this urban constituency.
