Maharashtra Weather Alert: Mumbai To Pune Brace For Heavy Rainfall; IMD Issues Yellow Alert For Multiple Areas

Mumbai continues to experience periods of rainfall, resulting in waterlogging and traffic problems. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issues a yellow alert in Mumbai and forecasts a generally cloudy sky with heavy rain for the city.

The maximum temperature is expected to be 28 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is forecasted to be 24 degrees Celsius.

On social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter some users have shared photos enjoying the rainy weather, while others have posted videos showing waterlogged streets in Mumbai. Mumbai Nowcast highlighted severe waterlogging in Mumbai on Sunday, stating, "Very Intense Rains currently in Many Parts of Mumbai, Thane & Central Suburbs."

Mumbai Weather Forecast

The weather in Mumbai is expected to be mostly rainy over the next five days. The IMD issued a yellow alert in Mumbai on July 23 and 24.

23 July: The temperature will range from 24 degrees Celsius to 27 degrees Celsius with a generally cloudy sky and heavy rain.
24 July: The temperature will range from 24 degrees Celsius to 27 degrees Celsius with a generally cloudy sky and heavy rain.
25 July: The temperature will range from 23 degrees Celsius to 28 degrees Celsius with a generally cloudy sky and moderate rain.
26 July: The temperature will range from 23 degrees Celsius to 28 degrees Celsius with rain.
27 July: The temperature will range from 23 degrees Celsius to 28 degrees Celsius with rain.

IMD Alerts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued several weather alerts for the region.

I. Orange Alert:

1. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected at isolated locations in Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Satara.
2. Heavy to very heavy rainfall and thunderstorms with lightning are likely at isolated places in Bhandara.

II. Yellow Alert:

1. Heavy rainfall is expected at isolated locations in Palghar, Thane, and Sindhudurg.
2. Heavy rainfall is expected at isolated locations in ghat areas, with light to moderate rain in the plains of Pune and Kolhapur.
3. Thunderstorms with lightning are likely at isolated places in Akola, Amravati, Buldhana, Nagpur, Wardha, Washim, and Yavatmal.
4. Heavy rainfall at a few places and thunderstorms with lightning are likely at isolated locations in Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, and Gondia.

Maharashtra Monsoon Update

The IMD's Regional Meteorological Centre posted on X, "Active monsoon conditions expected over most Maharashtra during next 3-4 days."
