Maharashtra Results 2024: Victory Processions Banned in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar
In the wake of the state assembly election results in Maharashtra, the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district's administrative head, District Collector Dilip Swami, has placed a ban on victory processions for the following day. This decision was taken in a bid to maintain peace and ensure order during the counting of votes. Swami, along with senior police personnel, underscored the necessity of keeping the environment tranquil to avoid any disturbances or law and order challenges that could arise from the announcement of the election outcomes.

Swami further elaborated on the measures being taken in a video message. He mentioned, "We have consulted with top police officials from both the city and rural parts of the district. Election result announcements can sometimes lead to tense situations. To prevent any law and order issues, we will not permit victory processions on result day."
This directive also extends to gatherings of party workers that might resemble processions, with Swami stating that such celebrations would be allowed in a regulated manner once the situation stabilizes. Prohibitory orders have been issued to enforce these measures effectively.
In the backdrop of these administrative decisions, early trends from the vote counting have started to emerge. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is currently leading in 115 seats, while its ally, the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), is ahead in 56 seats. The Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar faction) has also made a notable showing with 34 leads. On the other side, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance has the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leading in 20 constituencies, with Congress and NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) having leads in 11 and 2 seats respectively. Additionally, other political entities like the Samajwadi Party have made their presence felt with leads in 2 seats.
