Maharashtra CM Swearing-In Ceremony Set For Nov 26, BJP To Hold Key Meet On Nov 25
The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra is poised to form the next state government, having crossed the majority threshold with leads in 220 constituencies, according to Election Commission data. The alliance, consisting of the BJP, Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena faction, and Ajit Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), is heading towards a decisive victory. Sources from ANI suggest that the oath-taking ceremony is slated for November 26, with a crucial party meeting scheduled for November 25.
The BJP is leading with 128 seats, driving the alliance's momentum. Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena faction follows closely with leads in 55 seats, while Ajit Pawar's NCP faction holds leads in 35 constituencies. The Rashtriya Yuva Swabhiman Party (RSHYVSWBHM) has leads in 2 seats.

Meanwhile, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), consisting of the Indian National Congress (INC), Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena faction, and Sharad Pawar's NCP, trails with leads in only 51 seats. Among these, the INC has 20 seats, Uddhav's Shiv Sena faction holds 16, and Sharad Pawar's NCP faction leads in 13 seats.
Smaller parties like the Samajwadi Party (SP), All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), and Peasants and Workers Party of India (PWPI) are leading in 2 seats each, while five independent candidates are also in the race.
The BJP is expected to convene its Maharashtra Legislative Party meeting on November 25 to finalize the leadership for the state. The oath-taking ceremony for the new government is set for November 26.
Eknath Shinde is widely seen as a frontrunner for the chief minister's post, but the BJP's significant role in the alliance's success makes the leadership decision complex. A broader Yuti alliance meeting, held alongside the BJP's talks, will likely influence the final outcome.
This election marks a period of significant political realignment in Maharashtra. The Mahayuti alliance gained strength after Ajit Pawar aligned with the BJP and Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena faction, significantly altering the state's political dynamics.
The Maha Vikas Aghadi, which held power previously, faced challenges in retaining its voter base due to internal divisions and defections. The election results signal a shift in favor of the Mahayuti alliance, reshaping the political landscape in Maharashtra.
As the Mahayuti alliance celebrates its electoral success, the focus now shifts to the leadership selection process, which will set the course for governance in this economically and politically influential state.
