Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde Warns Opposition Of 'Karyakram' If They 'Derail' Ladki Bahin Yojana

Riding high on the Maha Yuti's flagship 'Mukhya Mantri Ladki Bahin Yojana', Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde issued a strong warning on Wednesday, stating that anyone attempting to interfere with or derail the women's cash-benefit scheme would face consequences.

This stern message was directed at the opposition, Maha Vikas Aghadi, which had questioned the scheme's feasibility and timing.

"If anyone comes in the way of the Ladki Bahin Yojana, touches it or tries to derail it, we will not hesitate to do their 'karyakram'... we will do the right 'karyakram'... we are committed to making our sisters lakhpati," said Shinde, who was joined by Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar.

Shinde further noted that women's welfare is a top priority for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reported Deccan Herald.

"In the past two-and-a-half years, we have held 60 to 70 Cabinet meetings and made around 900 decisions," Shinde said, accusing the MVA of being a hindrance to Maharashtra's development.

"They governed with an anti-development mindset," he added.

The trio of Shinde, Fadnavis, and Pawar affirmed that the Ladki Bahin Yojana is a permanent initiative, and funding would not be an issue.

"No state government scheme will be impacted by a lack of budget allocations," said Fadnavis, adding: "We assure you that all the schemes and promises we have made will be fully backed by financial provisions."

Ajit Pawar, the state's Finance Minister, also addressed the issue, stating: "We have tried to do justice to every community. This report shows the changes we have made in the lives of the people of Maharashtra. The Opposition is creating false narratives. They claimed elections would be held in two to three phases... but that is the prerogative of the Election Commission."
