Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024: 10 Must-Know Tips To Ensure A Smooth Polling Experience
Maharashtra is set to hold its Assembly elections on November 20, with polling scheduled for all 288 constituencies. The results, which will determine the next state government, are expected to be announced on November 23.
The election has seen spirited campaigning from two key political alliances. The ruling Mahayuti alliance includes the BJP, the Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and the NCP faction under Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Opposing them is the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA), consisting of Congress, the Shiv Sena (UBT) led by Uddhav Thackeray, and the NCP faction under Sharad Pawar.

As voters gear up for this crucial election, Mid-Day shared ten simple tips to ensure a smooth voting experience:
1. Leave mobile phones outside
Mobile phones are not allowed inside polling booths. Leave them outside to avoid inconvenience.
2. Report irregularities
If you notice any violations, use the cVIGIL app to lodge complaints in real time.
3. Verify your vote
After voting, check the VVPAT slip to confirm your selection.
4. Locate your polling station
Use the official election website to find your polling station by entering your EPIC number.
5. Check voter details
Confirm your name in the electoral roll via the Voter Helpline App and access polling station details.
6. Vote early to beat the heat
Morning hours are cooler and less crowded, making voting more comfortable.
7. Stay prepared
Bring a cap and sunglasses to shield yourself from the sun while waiting in queues.
8. Avoid photography
Taking photos or videos inside polling stations is strictly prohibited.
9. Comfortable facilities
Polling centres provide shaded waiting areas, seating, and orderly queues managed through tokens.
10. Special assistance for those in need
Senior citizens, pregnant women, and persons with disabilities will be prioritised. Ramps and other aids are available.
By adhering to these guidelines, you can help ensure a hassle-free voting day. Remember, casting your vote is both a right and a responsibility-plan ahead and participate in shaping Maharashtra's future.
