Kunal Kamra’s Show Disrupted in Mumbai Over Eknath Shinde Remark, Party Workers Vandalise Mumbai Hotel
Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra has found himself at the center of controversy after a satirical song mocking Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde went viral. The video, filmed at Hotel Unicontinental in Khar, featured Kamra altering lyrics from Dil Toh Pagal Hai to include the term "gaddar" (traitor), a clear dig at Shinde. The clip has triggered strong reactions from Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) leaders, leading to heated political exchanges.

Shiv Sena Leaders Warn Kamra
Kamra's parody did not sit well with Shinde's supporters. Shiv Sena MP Naresh Mhaske lashed out at the comedian, calling him a "contract performer" and cautioning, "He has stepped on a snake's tail-now he must face the consequences."
Mhaske further alleged that Kamra was working at the behest of Uddhav Thackeray. "With dwindling public support, Uddhav's camp is resorting to such paid acts. Kamra will have to answer for his mockery of Shinde," he added.
Tensions escalated when Shiv Sena workers vandalised the hotel where the video was shot, drawing sharp criticism from opposition parties.
Sanjay Raut's Support for Kamra Fuels Backlash
The controversy deepened after Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut shared the video on social media with the caption "Kunal Ka Kamal." His endorsement of Kamra's act led to fresh accusations from the Shinde faction, who accused him of inciting disrespect against their leader.
Defending Kamra, Raut took a jab at Maharashtra's home minister, tweeting, "Kunal Kamra, a well-known writer and comedian, created a satirical song on the political climate. In response, Shinde's supporters ransacked the studio. Devendraji, your leadership as home minister is weak."
Legal Action Looms as Political Drama Unfolds
Amid the growing tensions, Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel warned Kamra, demanding a public apology. "I will put him in his place," Patel declared, adding that he plans to file an FIR at the MIDC police station.
As threats against Kamra mount, the comedian has yet to comment publicly on the controversy. The incident has once again ignited debates on freedom of expression, political satire, and the shrinking space for dissent in Maharashtra's charged political landscape.
With political leaders trading barbs and the possibility of legal action looming, the focus now shifts to Kamra's response and how law enforcement handles the escalating situation.
