Coldplay Concert In Ahmedabad: Special Trains Between Mumbai And Ahmedabad For Fans; Details Inside

In a bid to ease travel for fans attending Coldplay's highly anticipated concerts, Western Railway has announced the operation of two special trains between Mumbai and Ahmedabad on January 25 and 26, according to a Times Now report. These trains are being introduced as "winter specials," in line with the Railway Board's directive, specifically to accommodate the increased number of passengers due to the concerts taking place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Gujarat.

An official, speaking to the news agency PTI on Thursday, shared the schedule for the special trains. Both trains will depart from Bandra Terminus at 6:15 AM on January 25 and 26 and are expected to reach Ahmedabad by 2 PM. For the return journey, the trains will leave Ahmedabad at 1:40 AM the following day and will arrive back at Bandra Terminus at 8:40 AM. These special trains will make stops at various key stations, including Borivali, Vapi, Udhna, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, and Gertapur, in both directions.

With the soaring demand for travel between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, train services on this route have been running at full capacity. This is compounded by the rising airfares, which have significantly increased due to the popularity of Coldplay concerts. Despite the addition of these two 'winter special' trains, officials have pointed out that they may not be enough to meet the expected surge in passengers. Drawing from past experiences, particularly with the Cricket World Cup, railway officials noted that there may be a need for additional arrangements if demand exceeds expectations.

Meanwhile, organisers of the Coldplay concerts, which will also be held at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on January 18, 19 and 21, have made provisions to accommodate fans by booking Full Tariff Rate (FTR) suburban local trains. These trains will help ease the congestion for concert attendees travelling from various parts of the city.

As the Coldplay concerts continue to draw immense interest, Western Railway's special trains aim to provide some relief to fans navigating the challenge of reaching Ahmedabad and back.
