Christmas, New Year 2025 Holidays: Central Railway Launches Special Winter Train Services For Festive Travel
To accommodate the increased passenger demand during the Christmas and winter holidays, Central Railway is introducing 48 special train services. These trains will operate between Mumbai-Karmali/Kochuveli and Pune-Karmali from December 19, 2024, to January 11, 2025. This initiative aims to ease travel for those journeying during this festive period.
The CSMT-Karmali train departs at 12:20 am and reaches Karmali by 1:30 pm on the same day. The return trip begins at 2:15 pm from Karmali, arriving at CSMT by 3:45 am the next day. There are 17 trips planned in each direction.

Train Composition and Stops
The train's composition includes a variety of classes: one AC First Class, one AC First cum AC-2 Tier, three AC-2 Tier, eleven AC-3 Tier, two Sleeper Class, two General Second Class, and two Luggage cum Guard brake vans. Key stops include Dadar, Thane, Panvel, Pen, Roha, Khed, Chiplun, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Kankavali, Kudal, and Thivim.
Another special service is the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) - Kochuveli Weekly Special (01463/01464), which will run eight times. Departing LTT every Thursday at 4 pm from December 19 to January 9, it arrives in Kochuveli at 10:45 pm the following day. The return journey starts every Saturday at 4:20 pm from December 21 to January 11 and reaches LTT by 12:45 pm on the third day.
Pune-Karmali-Pune Special Train
A special weekly train between Pune and Karmali (01407/01408) will also operate six times in both directions. Departing Pune every Wednesday at 5:10 am from December 25 to January 8, it reaches Karmali by 8:25 pm the same day. The return trip leaves Karmali at 10:20 pm on Wednesdays and arrives in Pune by 1 pm the next day.
This train halts at several stations including Chinchwad, Talegaon, Lonavala, Kalyan, Panvel, Pen, Roha, Mangaon, Khed, Chiplun, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Kankavali, Sindhudurg, Kudal, Sawantwadi Road and Thivim. Its composition features one AC First Class coach among others.

Bookings for these special trains—01151/01152 for Mumbai-Karmali/Kochuveli routes and others—begin on December 14. Tickets can be purchased through all computerised reservation centres or online via www.irctc.co.in.
